    private onsens
    fine views
    spacious room
    long bus ride
    cigarette odor

Kagetsuen in Hakone offered a nice stay amid beautiful surroundings. The private onsens were a highlight. I loved that I never had to wait for one. The room had a picturesque garden view and was spacious enough for my family. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of both Western and Japanese dishes. Checkout was smooth, and I enjoyed exploring the area after leaving our luggage at the front desk. One downside was the bus ride to the hotel. It felt lengthy and a bit congested, especially during peak times. I also noticed some faint cigarette smoke lingering in the corridor, despite being in a non-smoking room, slightly off-putting. Nonetheless, the views of Mt. Fuji were fine from the hotel was good. I'd recommend checking in early to fully enjoy the amenities.

Everything was great, including very pleasant and polite stuff from the other member of staff. The hotel had a great position, to Hakone attractions such as Mt.

Modern and clean hotel with amazing view of surrounding mountain and of the Mount Fuji. Location short walk to manicured gardens in the forest, the main restaurant and the onsen. Also, on the last stop of the gondola ride up from the train station or by bus from Odawara Station.

    No restaurant at all.

    spacious room
    smoky corridor

    Hidden gem with glorious views

The room was spacious and beautifully serene, great to soak in the fine vistas of Mt. Fuji right from our window. We enjoyed the traditional Japanese breakfast with a good array of local flavors.

Finding the hotel was a challenge due to ambiguous directions, and the lingering smell of smoke in the corridors detracted from the overall experience. The onsen facilities, while enjoyable, could use some updates.

I booked renovated room with TV stand, tatami mats, a good view which turned out to be an impressive room. The staff was outstandingly accommodating, and requests were handled quickly. The location was marvellous and stunning - only a short distance to everywhere I wanted to go.

    Definitely, there was restaurant missing.

The private hot springs were a fantastic retreat! The room was clean and spacious, but the hotel felt a bit old-fashioned. Overall a nice stay but a bit far from attractions 😊

    buffet breakfast

    long bus ride

It was a perfect retreat for our family of five, including three teenagers. The buffet breakfast offered an excellent selection that everyone enjoyed, and the staff were attentive and eager to help us.

My wife says that the bus ride to the hotel can be a bit long and tedious, especially with our teenagers. A shuttle or improved transport options would be a nice enhancement for families.
